How to see Paris in 9 hours – Part 1

It was my first trip to Europe and I wanted to see as much as possible in the 11 day journey, so this left little time to sight see the boring stuff :).  Not really but since Mrs. RTW had already seen the museums and historic sights of Paris and I am more into the hikes and the natural geological beauty of places so it did make for a great short visit to Paris.

My education and background of Paris has been through the eyes of Pro Cycling ever since following the 1999 Tour de France and watching Lance Armstrong go on to win his 2nd Tour de France.  The sights to see on my agenda were:

  • Arc de Triomphe
  • Champs des Elysees
  • Lance’s place in Paris – Hotel de Crillon (they fly the Texas flag)
  • Ok, I did still want to see the Eiffel Tower, Louvre,  and Notre Dame

We landed at 8am and departed Paris at 5pm, onto Switzerland!
